The perfect invoice app for a small business +++++

A gem of an app. I know as I’ve run a business for many years and most invoice apps are crippled because the things that every business needs is lacking in some way. I’ve run a Volvo repair shop and also sell parts on the internet.

I bought and downloaded the program to find I could do an invoice immediately after entering my business name, address and details.

Strong point: You can edit default text on the fly. For example if I enter “463377 timing belt” the default price I entered when I added the product is in the price box but if I want to change the price I can. If I want to add a note to the entry I can do that, such as “Timing belt changed at XXX miles.”

Strong point: You can edit the field names. For example: Under Settings/Edit Titles I changed “Terms and Conditions” to “Vehicle” so I could show year and model of car of the invoice.

Adding products to inventory and updating stock works nicely. A weak point is there isn’t a category field to break up the inventory if you have hundreds of parts. This would be a problem if you had hundreds of parts but I found a workaround by entering in the “Item Code” a simple coding system. I used an “x” followed by a two letters for the category. Thus typing “xfi” in the invoice product description brings up all the filters, “xbu” brings up all the bulbs, “xen” brings up all the engine parts, etc.

With this app you can print the invoice or with a click send it to the customer by email.

On the home page you can click to see your invoice totals by the day, week, month, quarter, or year.

I think any weaknesses will get fixed. The app is underpriced compared to the other apps that seem like they would work but make you run out of the room screaming.

I couldn’t be more pleased in finding Moon Invoice. For years after abandoning Windows machines for a Mac I kept my Windows machine in the shop just for doing invoices. Suddenly, for $9.99 and an afternoon playing with it I told my wife I had the problem completely solved.
